Pooki Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Pooki is a walk-tracking journal for you and your family. There are no user accounts, no ads, and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers of any kind. This page explains what the app actually stores and why.

What Pooki is

Pooki lets a family log dog walks, poops, pees, and dog-to-dog encounters, with an optional pin on a map. It works on the web at pooki.me and as an iOS app. There's no sign-up, no email address, and no password. A family is identified only by a random key your device generates for you.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the app, Pooki may store:

None of this requires an account. It's tied only to your family's private key, generated on your device the first time you set up a family.

Where this data is stored

Your family's journal lives locally on each device, in the browser's local storage on the web, or the app's local storage on iOS. If you turn on sync so your family's devices stay in step, it's also stored on a small server we run on Cloudflare's infrastructure, keyed by a one-way hash of your family key. The server never sees your key itself, and there's no separate database of user accounts, emails, or identities that could be breached.

Cloudflare is our only infrastructure provider. Pooki doesn't use any advertising network, analytics SDK, or other third-party data collector. The map tiles, fonts, and libraries the app uses are all hosted by us, not pulled from third-party CDNs while you use the app.

Public profiles and friends

You can turn on a public, read-only link for your family's journal, like pooki.me/@yourname, and choose whether it shows your family members' names and your walk locations. This is off by default and fully under your control; turning it off disables the link right away. You can also follow another family through their public link, which only shares what that family has chosen to make public.

Notifications

If you turn on walk reminders or auto-end-of-walk notifications, they're scheduled and delivered entirely on your own device, using your operating system's local notification mechanism. Pooki doesn't run a push-notification server and can't send you a notification remotely.

Data retention and deletion

Your data stays until you delete it. You can remove any single walk, poop, pee, or encounter at any time from within the app. "Log out of family" in Settings clears your family's data from that device. If you'd like your family's data removed from our sync server entirely, email us using the address below with your family's public link or handle, if you have one, so we can find and delete the right record. Since we don't store emails or accounts, that's the only way we can tell which record is yours.

Children's privacy

Pooki is a general-audience family utility and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what a family chooses to log, such as a member's first name, and we don't run any advertising or tracking that would try to identify or profile any user, child or adult.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Pooki after a change means you accept the updated policy.
